Haynes Publishing has linked up with the Vulcan To The Sky Trust (VTTST) to tell the inside story of the awesome Avro Vulcan jet bomber in the Haynes Avro Vulcan Manual. The mighty Vulcan is an enduring image of the Cold War era when the world stood on the brink of nuclear annihilation. For many years the RAF's delta-wing bomber was the cornerstone of Britain's nuclear deterrent.

The authorship team for the Avro Vulcan Manual is about as good as it gets: Tony Blackman is a former Vulcan test-pilot, having flown 105 of the 135 Vulcans built; Andrew Edmondson, engineering director at the Vulcan Operating Company, was responsible for returning Vulcan XH558 to the skies; and Alfred Price is an internationally acclaimed aviation author and former Vulcan RAF aircrew officer.

You can read about the Vulcan's operational history and take a close-up look at how it's built. Discover what it takes to own and fly this massive aircraft, and find out how engineers keep it airworthy. Centrepiece of the manual is Vulcan XH558 - the world's only flying example of an Avro Vulcan.

Much of the photography you will see inside the Avro Vulcan Manual has been specially commissioned, while the Vulcan To The Sky Trust has given Haynes full access to its photo archive recording the restoration of XH558. Previously classified aircraft maintenance manuals have been a rich source, too, providing detailed technical illustrations that depict the Vulcan 'under the skin'.

The Haynes Avro Vulcan Manual gives readers a fascinating and truly unique look inside this Cold War leviathan.
